Protect Your Energy
As the back-to-school season approaches, it's easy to get caught up in the excitement and forget about the importance of self-care. As an educator, I know firsthand how crucial it is to prioritize your well-being, especially when faced with the demands of a new school year. I know you've been seeing those back-to-school commercials and drooling over the goodies in Target's Dollar Spot (I see you! 😉), but I want to take a moment to remind you of something crucial: protecting your energy.
We Can't Run and Hide, But We Can Prioritize Self-Care
The reality is, we can't run and hide from the responsibilities that come with our chosen profession. Principals and district leaders are already back in their offices, gearing up for the challenges ahead. However, that doesn't mean we should neglect our own needs in the process. As heart-centered educators, we pour so much of ourselves into our work, and it's essential that we take the time to refill our cups.
Give Yourself Permission to Reset and Be Still
I want you to know that it's okay to take a step back and allow yourself to reset. Enjoy the process of organizing and planning for the new year, but also make sure you're carving out time for relaxation and self-care. Whether it's staying inside to chill or getting outside to soak up some sun, do what feels right for YOU.
Surround Yourself with People and Things That Breathe Life Into You
As you navigate this back-to-school season, pay attention to the people and things that make you feel like the best version of yourself. Is it that inspiring colleague who always has your back? Or maybe it's that hobby that brings you joy and helps you unwind after a long day. Whatever it is, make a conscious effort to surround yourself with more of those positive influences.
Do More of What Makes You Feel Like the Best Version of Yourself
You know that feeling when you're in your element, and everything just clicks? That's the feeling I want you to chase. Identify the people, places, and things that make you feel like the incredible, heart-centered educator you are, and do more of that!
Remember, protecting your energy isn't selfish; it's necessary. By prioritizing your well-being, you'll be better equipped to show up as your best self for your students and create the kind of classroom environment that fosters growth, connection, and joy.
So, as you gear up for another school year, don't forget to protect your energy, find balance, and do more of what makes you feel like the amazing educator you are! I'm cheering you on every step of the way.
